Facilitated by Christopher Akiwumi
Christopher Akiwumi
Christopher has done the job, and he’s in the middle of the Monday himself.
He left his last big role as Global Senior Director at McKinsey & Company, after a career across four continents and four very different institutions. A barrister by training, he headed the litigation practice at a firm in Kenya, helped set up Barclays Africa’s in-house legal department before becoming its Director of Human Resources, led legal, compliance and government affairs teams for GE and Microsoft across Africa and the Middle East, and was Risk Director for Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa at McKinsey before moving into a global role: the person senior leaders came to when a critical risk couldn’t be overlooked.
He facilitates because he’s been on the same road, has read what there is to read about it, and writes about his own journey, in plain terms, as he goes. He’s also a Master Coach, certified by the Behavioral Coaching Institute. In the room he’s on the same side of the table.
He’s also the first conversation. Nobody joins the week without having talked to him.
From the Journal
Christopher writes about the Monday as he goes through it.

Nobody prepared me for this
After four decades of working in leadership roles, as a husband, father and executive, nobody prepared me for this.
